SGS in Montenegro Livestream
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Montenegro and NGO Center for Democratic Transition (CDT) organised a panel discussion entitled „Citizen participation – using new technologies, social media and innovation to engage citizens in addressing development challenges“.
The panel discussion was a part of the global „Social Good Summit“ discussion (www.socialgoodsummit.com) organised from 22-24th September simultaneously in New York and around the world. Last year the summit encompassed 300 cities around the world, and it represents a joint initiative of the United Nations, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mashable, 92Y and Ericsson, while the UNDP provides organizational support.
The main question of this year's "Social Good" Summit was how innovation and new technologies can help solve major global challenges. During the 3 days of Summit, most influential people around the world will try and contribute to the new technologies and media be put into function of development in the best possible way.
The discussion brought together representatives of NGOs and international organizations, governments, media, universities and the private sector. The goal was to present current and planned relevant activities and projects, and to get the concrete proposals for improving the participation of citizens, especially the youth, in the events that are important for further human development.
Special focus was on the influence of new technologies, social networks and innovation on a more active involvement of citizens in solving social challenges, whether it is grey economy, youth employment, etc.
