ZORAN VIDEKANIĆ TELLS HIS REFUGEE STORY AFTER MOVING TO NEW HOME

More than 23 years after coming to Montenegro as refugees, Zoran Videkanić and his family finally have a place to call home, as they recently moved to a building for displaced persons in Nikšić. Reflecting on his refugee life, Zoran says: “I fled the war in Bosnia together with my family in 1993 and first settled in Piva. It was very difficult in the beginning, especially to find a job and accommodation. Some people even refused to rent us their apartment because we had children. My wife’s family helped us a lot, but others also lent us a hand. Nikšić people are warm-hearted, they welcomed us, but it was tough.”

PHOTO STORY
